Your creative foothold in the epicenter of Latin American culture – Mexico City, part of TBQA’s low‑residency network.

InResidency CDMX:
Hybrid Queer Artist Residency

Where online community meets
real-world creation.

ENGLISH
The Bureau of Queer Art’s InResidency CDMX is a hybrid artist residency that connects digital community with physical studio practice in Mexico City.
It’s designed for working artists, curators, and cultural producers who need flexibility — people who want to stay connected, build relationships, and create meaningful work across borders.

How it Works
Artists first join our online residency, a digital commons where participants meet, share work, and exchange ideas before arriving. This virtual space helps you build relationships, receive curatorial feedback, and enter Mexico City already threaded into the community — no cold starts, no culture shock.

Then, you transition into the low-residency studio program in CDMX. Depending on the calendar, you’ll work in a private studio or shared space with other residents, supported by TBQA’s Director and Curator.

Residencies are offered throughout the year, including group cycles aligned with our three major exhibitions —

  • PASSPORT (Art Week – February)

  • LUCHADOR (Pride – June)

  • IMMORTAL (Día de Muertos – October–November)

You can also apply for private sessions between those cycles for 2–4 weeks of focused studio time and curatorial mentorship.

This is not a live-in residency; artists arrange their own accommodations nearby — CDMX offers abundant, affordable Airbnb-style housing within walking distance of the studio. We’re happy to help you find the right fit.

What You’ll Gain

  • Integrated online and in-person experience

  • Shared and private studio options

  • One-on-one curatorial support

  • Connections that extend beyond the residency

  • Opportunities to exhibit with TBQA during major cultural events

This isn’t just a place to work. It’s a queer creative ecosystem — designed for sustainability, visibility, and community.
